Pacific Adventure Hostel

A Cool Hostel in a Hot Beach Town

Bucerias, Riviera Nayarit (Near Puerto Vallarta), Mexico

Two short blocks from the Pacific Adventure Hostel in Bucerias you will find one of the loveliest stretches of beach in all of Pacific Mexico. Eight miles of golden, creamy sand are lapped by the warm and generally calm waters of the Bahia de Banderas (“Bay of Flags”), one of the world’s largest protected ocean bays.

The ocean here is generally a blissful 75F to 85F (24C to 30C) temperature and great for boogie-boarding, sea kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, kite surfing and other aqua-sports. Whale-watching and scuba diving trips are also easily arranged. Surfers enjoy several good breaks on the bay just north of Bucerias at Burros and Punta Mita while only half an hour (by bus) up the coast the bigger wave action of the open-ocean surfing hamlet of Sayulita beckons.

The Climate in Bucerias / Puerto Vallarta

The climate in Bucerias / Puerto Vallarta is often said to be the first real ‘year-round t-shirt & shorts weather’ on the Pacific coast of North America (as one travels south.) From November through May there is almost no rain and the skies are almost always sunny and clear, with blissful highs of around 80F/27C, making for very comfortable beach-going conditions during the day and pleasant sleeping conditions at night.

During the summer months (June through October), highs are around 90F/32C and region gets some spectacular (yet usually brief) rain showers, with much of the precipitation occurs in the evenings to cool things down before bedtime. There is plenty of sunshine throughout the year, making this part of Mexico one of the most welcoming tropical climates on earth.
